Kirk Douglas' last pic shows him celebrating with four generations of his family

Acting legend Kirk Douglas was last pictured with four generations of his family as he sat at the head of the table in a pic shared by his grandson

The last photos of Hollywood legend Kirk Douglas show his enjoying a family get together with four generations of the Douglas clan.

Kirk was seen celebrating with his nearest and dearest in August 2019, as he sits at the head of the table, aged 102 at the time.

The screen legend passed away on February 5, with the his family, including actor son Michael, confirming the news in a statement, saying: "It is with tremendous sadness that my brothers and I announce that Kirk Douglas left us today at the age of 103.

"To the world, he was a legend, an actor from the golden age of movies who lived well into his golden years, a humanitarian whose commitment to justice and the causes he believed in set a standard for all of us to aspire to.”

The photos of the family event, which was hosted by Kirk, were posted on Instagram by his 40-year-old grandson Cameron, who is the son of 74-year-old movie star Michael Douglas

The Spartacus star posed for photos with his wife Anne, 100 at the time, his sons Michael, 74, Joel, 72, and Peter, 63, along with their extended family including Michael’s wife Catherine Zeta Jones, and great-grand child Lua.

Cameron Douglas captioned the photo of the 14 members on Instagram with: “#Familyfirst”

Anne, who turned 100 last April, married Kirk in 1954 after he divorced first wife Maria Webster.

Their marriage had produced two sons - Michael Douglas and film producer Joel Douglas before Kirk and Anne had two sons together- Peter, a producer, and Eric, an actor who died in 2004 from an overdose of alcohol and drugs.

The photos has become even more poignant after the passing of Kirk.

In the statement shared by Michael, he continued to pay tribute to his centenarian father: “But to me and my brothers Joel and Peter he was simply Dad, to Catherine, a wonderful father-in-law, to his grandchildren and great grandchild their loving grandfather, and to his wife Anne, a wonderful husband.”

“Kirk’s life was well lived, and he leaves a legacy in film that will endure for generations to come, and a history as a renowned philanthropist who worked to aid the public and bring peace to the planet.

"I can’t condone his behaviour. I think the court recognised his drug addiction as well as the crime that he committed and it’s an adequate, I think, amount of time for anybody to spend in jail.

And the best part of it is, he will be able to start his life afresh.”

Cameron Douglas was released early from prison on 1 August, 2016.
